Singer and songwriter John Denver touched millions of people. He also achieved the status of a superstar by his folk-inspired pop hits many of them based in Colorado. Take Me Home Country Roads is the only Denver Top 10 Hit as a Solo Artist after working in small Folk Music Groups. The track was written by Bill Danoff. Danoff was credited with Johnny Cash as the inspiration for the track, however Denver realized that it could be a huge hit after the song was first heard by him. Just a few days after singing to an enthusiastic crowd in Washington D.C., the artist recorded the song.
